The backgound

A large and growing Financial Consultancy business in the UK; employing over 1350 staff across 16 UK locations. With rapid growth and acquisitions there has been a need for simultaneous expansion and integration of network assets.
Additional circuits have been required to increase capacity and resilience as in parallel the company has been migrating users from Skype to Microsoft TEAMS and office to home and back again. The existing & expanded estate needed an increased level of real time reactive and proactive support, much greater visibility to port level and attention to ongoing maintenance of an aging estate. Improved stability and support created the foundation for a migration from an MPLS Network to an SD-WAN.

The solution

ISUMO undertook an audit and vulnerability assessment and mapped the network to a port level of detail; implemented net flow and device level monitoring to a highly granular level to raise visibility. Understanding the points of weakness, we set in train a series of maintenance windows to re-configure and raise the currency and appropriacy of the environment, whilst simultaneously implementing 24/7 monitoring and support of devices with our Network Care Plan.
In Q1 2021 ISUMO started the network transformation to SD-WAN using Meraki MX Firewalls (HA pairs in each location) in step with the existing circuit renewals. New cheaper DIA circuits, along with new firewalls (hardware & software) are part of a 21 month program to deliver a high performance SD-WAN network with 24/7 monitoring, maintenance and support.
